God Is On Your Side
With Jeff and Terra Mattson and special guest Joshua Butler
Church hurt can leave us questioning everything, including whether God is truly for us. In this conversation, author and pastor Joshua Ryan Butler shares the personal experiences that inspired his book, God Is On Your Side, revealing how seasons of loss, depression, church wounds, and disappointment became places where he encountered the presence of Jesus in deeper ways than ever before.
Drawing rich connections throughout Scripture, Joshua explores how the Gospel of John reveals a Savior who steps into our pain, carries our burdens, and restores what feels broken. Together, we unpack what it means to heal from church hurt without giving up on the Church, why naming our wounds matters, and how healthy community becomes part of God's healing process.
Healing from church hurt begins by honestly naming what happened while allowing Jesus to meet us in our pain.
God's grace frees us from living under shame, blame, or performance and invites us into restoration.
Healthy community is often where God brings healing after we've been wounded in unhealthy community.
The places that feel most broken can become holy places where we experience Christ's presence in profound ways.
If you've experienced spiritual disappointment, betrayal, or loss, this episode offers a hopeful reminder that Jesus is not waiting on the other side of your healing. He's already with you in it.
