Untangling God from the Wound: Healing After Spiritual Abuse- Dr. Carol Ministries with guests Jeff and Terra Mattson
By Dr. Carol Tanksley, MD, DMin
Faith is meant to bring life, freedom, and love—but many of us know what it’s like when faith gets tangled up with fear, control, shame, or misuse of power. In this conversation, we sit down with Dr. Carol for an honest, compassionate exploration of what happens when faith becomes harmful instead of healing.
Together, we talk about toxic faith—how to recognize when spiritual systems cross the line into spiritual abuse, and how to distinguish that from the normal messiness and imperfection that exists in any human community. Jeff brings his perspective as an executive coach, Terra shares from her work as a licensed professional counselor, and Dr. Carol adds her deep wisdom as both a physician and minister. It’s a rich, grounded conversation that holds both truth and tenderness.
